My 2018 Recap
My Year End Review
I swear 356 Days is not enough time in a year… Feels like 2018 flew by!
Since I recently relaunched my blog, I figure it’d be cool to do a 2018 Recap here- rather than just instagram.
Twas an eventful year with many highs & lows but I still progressed. In 2018, I feel the universe kept testing me. Throwing a million obstacles my way to see if I’d break, yet I’m still smiling. I now realize, that being uncomfortable is my new norm. Being an entrepreneur, you need to starve first & have perseverance. Trusting the process along the way has proved to be correct. Despite my triumphs I still manage to survive, feed my wanderlust desires and accomplish my short-term goals. I would say “things always work out” but screw that, this is everything I’ve been manifesting on my dream board! Without further ado, here are my 2018 highlights:
2018 started out Wild in South Africa…
Literally, with the Big 5.
We Learned so much from our day trip to the Aquila Private Game Reserve. We saw the most incredible animals, which had such an impact on my life. I feel so emotionally connected to more animal preservations and plastic free initiatives. In the near future, I’d like to spend time on-sight helping a charity of choice. I want to make a difference, I want to help…
AND one of the the 7 Natural Wonders of the World
(Table Mountain)
(Camps Bay is such a Gorgeous Beach. Water is freezing, but it’s beautiful.)
In 2018 I attended some Big Events for the very first time…
These were always events I dreamt of attending, so I’m really grateful to check these off the list (Not to mention, working with Revolve was a big accomplishment I wanted to obtain)
Coachella 2018
London Fashion Week!
She’s Going got to Revolve Around the World in NYC
Had some Health Scares.
I’m aware and educated from my past experiences that my breast are prone to bumps; however it’s always scary leading up to the test results. Again a negative biopsy result. Thank You Lord.
After this experience, my mom also told me it would be wise to have a colonoscopy since my brother had a polyp at 25. Basically- I should watch out for colon cancer too. Great!
Went through the whole drinking that gross cleanse so they could put me under and check out my insides. Thankfully, the procedure felt like two minutes and I was spared any embarrassment. Thankfully I did it because they found and removed a polyp which could have turned in to colon cancer!
After a google session researching causes of colon cancer I gave up red meat. It hasn’t been that difficult because I still have chicken and fish- but the more I become educated on food and animal agriculture I wouldn’t be surprised if I become plant based in the future.
Moral of the story, preventative check ups and knowing your family’s health history is important. I feel it’s always easier to overcome something when you get ahead of it.
Ended my Long Distance Relationship by Moving to London!
I’m so happy to finally be living with my man- in the same time zone, under one roof, with no suitcases all over the room. Now, we can continue building together 🙂
A year before meeting Stuart, I made a plan to move to London in 2 years time. Hence, why we are just fate (just saying.) Now, it’s been 4 months since doing so and I couldn’t be happier! I’ve been enjoying the process of assimilating, pushing myself to make new friends, and learning the real estate market there.

Business Updates: Still climbing that steep ladder
Sometimes, I feel like being an Entrepreneur is like an emotional rollercoaster. But, I continue to learn from every mistake and celebrate the small wins as I continue on my path. Trusting the process has calmed me many times as I constantly get anxious over money and how long it’s taking! Here are a few challenges/victories from this year:
- Completed the infrastructure for HTY Rentals (my AirBnb business) and began pushing our listing to many new channels.
- Had to shut down 22 rental properties as NYS legislation cracked down on excessive listings etc. I cried like a baby and felt lost with my future.
- Took on a roll of consulting short-term rentals.
- Began e-commerce modeling for Mystique Boutique
- Signed with Red Monkey Collective my brand agency and JayJay Epega my publicist. It takes an army, and I feel confident with them as my partners. Moving forward I will be sharing more of my journey as I open SG Hotels, my eco-friendly hotel brand.
- Took on more paid advertisements and hotel collaborations for She’s Going.
- Enhanced my content output on Instagram. I invested in a Sony A7 camera & started using Aggie’s (Travel in Her Shoes) presets on Lightroom.
- Began creating a new network & learning the real estate market in London
- Recently started raising fund for SG Hotels, looking in to hotel management certificate programs, building out my eco-friendly business plan. So much to learn but I love it!
- Lastly, launched my new blog (hope you guys are enjoying to far) and started up on Twitter and Pinterest ..Cough, Cough, Follow me.
