5 Affordable Date Ideas

The global economy is kinda F*ckd from Covid, so it’s not an easy time for many people who have lost their jobs or had reduced income. That aside, you may also be working towards a financial goal & want to stay within budget.  Affordable date ideas shouldn’t be knocked on because they make you get creative and may turn out more memorable than dinner at an overpriced restaurant.  So let’s opt into affordable dates! Here are 5  date ideas that are cost-efficient.

1. At-home Comedy Show

Spice up your living room with lights and a few candles to set the mood of your at home theater.  I suggest getting dressed up & ordering in for your in date night-in. I feel this is such a great idea because it allows you to laugh together which is healthy for a relationship; regardless if theres a pandemic or not.

There’s a few comedians I recommend: Ricky Gervais, Chris Rock, Dave Chappell, Craig Robinson

2. Explore the Outdoors

I don’t get to appreciate the outdoors too much with a busy schedule but I do my best-and it’s always refreshing. I won’t be shy here, living in Miami is great for this, despite not having Mts., our weather allows us more options for this year round. It’s pretty clutch.

I shared some ideas for warm & cold weather:

  • Warm Weather Activities: Beach, Picnic, Walk, Kayaking, Hiking, Biking, rollerblading, Strawberry Fruit Picking
  • Cold Weather: Outdoor Fire, Skiing/Snowboarding, Ice Skating, Bundled Walk, Hiking, Snow Tubing, Wine Tasting, Pumpkin/Apple picking

3. Be A Local Tourist

Living in or near a city, I feel we take sightseeing for granted when we live there. It’s easy to get wrapped up in our daily lives, to not appreciate what our home has to offer. Here are some fun things we’ve done on dates.

  • Stu & I would go for a lot of walks when living in London. It was fun to explore different neighborhoods, watch street artist, and check out all the views on the Rive Thames.  It really cost nothing to stroll the city, although we usually ended up grabbing a coffee or bite to eat… it was low key but spontaneous, which I love.
  • Markets are a great place to hit up! Whether it be a food for vintage fashion market, its stimulating to walk around tasting little bites at different food stands while also browsing and haggling for new earrings. If you’re a reading in or going to London, I shared my favorite markets here.
  • Go to Museums, Installations and Art Galleries.  Art and history spark great conversations between couples which I feel is more of a “deep” date. Depending on the size of the place you choose to go to, it can be a full or half day date.  Activities like this are usually free, ask for donations or are low cost.
  • Check for local concerts and events on sites like TimeOut & EventBrite. I’ve gone on a few dates at some  Central Park’s  Concerts and had the best time! These sites are a great way to stay aware of fun events so you can plan a unique date night. For the most part these are for free or fairly inexpensive to attend, so great on a budget!

4. Game Night

Game night is an inexpensive date that you can switch up each time. Playing games can set the tone for a flirty environment as you test once another and build up that competition. Pop a bottle of wine or Prosecco and enjoy the night!

Games I recommend:

5. Cook Dinner

As they say, the way to a mans heart is through his mouth. However, I think that could be man or woman.

Its a very  romantic jester to cook your favorite dishes, especially when the relationship is still fresh!  Set the mood and pair your meal with a glass of wine or preferred cocktail and get your lighting & music on point. Put the phones away and enjoy the food over conversation. Hopefully, dessert leads to the bedroom being so conveniently located.

Alternatively, you can buy a Fresh Direct meal and cook the recipe together. I actually know couples who have a membership and find it a healthy activity for their relationship.

Lastly, you can go out to a cooking class which is a more interactive dinner but a higher quality. Prices range from 50-100$ per person.

Enjoy your affordable, yet memorable, dates!
