Covid Travel Tips
For Those Who Can't be Held Down
At the beginning of every year, we create our manifestation boards and set goals for ourselves so that we can essentially grow and enjoy life its fullest. For many, traveling was on the list of goals that were set for the 2020. It most definitely was for me! Unfortunately, Covid exists and threw a huge wrench in to all our plans. But, that has not stopped people from traveling, more so adjust how they travel. Thankfully I was able to visit from NY, Bahamas, Vegas, Dominical Republic & Mexico despite the pandemic, so I wanted to share some tips I learned along the way.
Do Your Research
The CDC is constantly updating their website with the latest information on COVID-19. Check their website so that you have the latest information on how you can protect yourselves as you travel. Also, visit the country or city or your choices tourism board website. Every place has different rules that were constantly changing- It really depends if they are seeing a big uptick.
Get Tested!
I’ve probably been tested 12 times this year since starting to travel again in August. I do so right before my flight and approx. 3 days after. I’ve done every test their has been and unfortunately did get covid but it was from my apartment building -go figure I “Stayed at Home.” I honestly just feel that getting tested is the best way to be safe, aware and make others feel comfortable around you.
Try different Modes of Transportation
Experts suggest not to fly so many have resorted to more road trips, and boating. Overall I try to go to destinations that are less crowded and outdoor. If you do fly wear a legit mask not the cloth ones, wipe down your area. Inflight meals are limited so go with a full stomach and try not to snack or drink much on the flight
Get Travel Insurance
To protect you and your travel companions. A lot of airlines were providing free cancelation with a travel credit in the past, but I am now seeing that they are giving a paid option for that. You just never know, so insure what you cannot afford to lose!
Determine what climate or climates you are going to be exposed to during your trip.
I think it’s common knowledge that when the weather gets colder more people get sick. So I’d be strategic with when I’m going to certain places as it may not be the safest to go at that time. Not to mention, things to do indoors are limited so if it’s cold out you may not have as many options for restaurants etc.
Stay organized when packing
Being at an airport can be a bit stressful as is, but now with our covid its nerving what you’re touching etc. So I suggest to keep all your items organized. Knowing whats where in your bags makes life so much easier on the go. I also love using packing cubes and taking photos of outfits to stay organized and create extra space in your luggage. Here are a products that help me organize myself while traveling:
Stay Sanitary
- Wear a Mask and Wash your dam hands! It’s worth buying a disinfecting UV light. I really like this portable one as you can use it on the go regardless of traveling. Also
- Purchase a Seat Sheet! As we travel, it is extremely important that we take extra measures to protect ourselves. Seat sheets adds a protective barrier between you and your seat as you travel on airplanes, trains, buses, rental cars, and more.
- I choose hard cover suitcases over cloth because they are easier to clean then cloth and more durable. I love to travel with my iFly luggage! It’s affordable, high-quality, and stylish. The smart functionality comes in handy when you are on the move. They also came out with a travel kid with one time use masks, gloves, sanitizer ect. It’s convenient to buy it all at once.
- If you are looking for medical grade PPE equipment such as masks or gloves, I sell them in large quantities, but you can purchase individual boxes here
Boost and protect your immune system as you travel with vitamins and probiotics.
I personally take the following daily:
- Olly Women’s Multi Vitamin
- Zinc
- Goli Apple Cider Vinegar Gummies (Use code “shesgoing5” for 5% off
- I also swear by Zicam. I rub it around your nostrils (I know its weird, but worth it) Before flying & at first signs of a cold.
- I keep a stash of medicine in my travel bag all the time, and restock when necessary. You never know what could happen. I learned to do this after an awful stomach virus in Africa!
- CBD oils, balms, and tinctures are incredible when it comes to relieving anxiety and jet lag. I highly recommend checking out Bloom Farms CBD!
